Conference Layout

Planned to extend over three days, from Wednesday morning to Friday afternoon, ICCFR2 will start off with a number of keynote speeches, which will stake out the political and institutional framework of the conference. A plenary session in the afternoon of the same day is to tackle the problem in its global dimension.

The second day will be organized in parallel sessions; these are to be markedly scientific in style and geared toward a detailed discussion of coal fire research from the diverse angles of the disciplines involved.

The last day will see the audience reassembled again in one plenary session, where comprehensive, strongly interdisciplinary papers (case studies) are to pave the way for a summary panel discussion. It will touch upon critical issues raised over the conference and identify stepping stones to future Sino-German, and international, efforts at coal fire mitigation and prevention, including funding of extinction measures (e.g., CDM).
